Producing One-to-One Art Events and Sharing the Experiences

The main goal of this project is to promote one-to-one art, support artists and empower them through connecting and sharing and audience development. All this will be achieved through events and activities that will take place over a period of 30 months in Finland, Portugal and Croatia, with a special emphasis on the support of artists and the exchange of experience between artists and the audience. Diverse, high-quality one-to-one art programs will be co-curated, and artists will be able to show their work in all three countries. In Oulu (Finland), the works are presented in social and health institutions and in the cultural center Valve. Artists in Klanjec are offered the opportunity to work at the residence and present their works. In Lisbon, the one-to-one event will take the form of a multimedia theater performance in an abandoned hospital. Along with a series of podcasts, a guide and a book covering the project and one-to-one artistic experiences, an online portal of all organizations and artists involved in this form of performance across Europe will be established. The three partners from Finland, Portugal and Croatia are located on different edges of the European Union and are therefore geographically marginal, just as one-on-one art stands on the margins of independent culture. However, we were brought together by a common passion to empower one-on-one art at the European level. The coordinating organization is the ILME Cultural Cooperative - the main organizer of the Kehä festival, held annually in Oulu, which involves artists, often in a community setting, interacting with a member of the audience or the public. Oulu is the European Capital of Culture in 2026. Gato Escaldado is a professional theater company based in Lisbon, whose main goal is to bring relevant and innovative performances to adults and children throughout the country, contributing to the cultural development of local communities.
