Operation Nova: Re-imagining Cultural Spaces in a New European Context
Project description
The project brings together a consortium of 3 organisations from 3 countries in SE Europe (Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo) driven by strong common interest in tackling issues of lack of appropriate support for the independent cultural actors especially with regards to the public infrastructure that these organisations use to incubate, produce and mediate high quality artistic and cultural content towards large and diverse audiences in different urban communities. These organisations are particularly suitable for the task, as they are the pioneering independent cultural platforms in their countries, notable for gathering large numbers of independent cultural actors, inaugurating novel practices of empowered participatory governance of cultural infrastructure. The most important ambition of our project is to lay a foundation for an improved transition towards a more adapted support system for independent cultural spaces and to deepen relationships of artists and cultural workers with local communities and decision makers. By gathering a multitude of actors with the aim to foster creation of new knowledge as well as new artistic and cultural practices, we wish to instigate systemic transformation through fresh perspectives and a drive for innovation.
