Care Ecologies in Europe’s South
Project description
"Ecologies of Care" is a two-year collaborative project of partners from Greece - the George and Aristea Mamidakis Foundation, Croatia - Association What, How and for Whom/WHW and Spain - Contemporary art organization Idensitat who are active in the areas of production of art works, promotion of contemporary art among domestic and international art audiences and fostering a sustainable relationship between contemporary artistic practices and social space through research and education. During a period in which the COVID-19 pandemic has brought the concept of care to the fore at the international level, the project focuses on the need to collectively redraw the rules and the process of cultural creation as a collective radical act of care.
The methodology chosen for the project "Ecologies of Care" aims to establish a close collaboration in the south of Europe between artists, curators, thinkers, researchers and other cultural actors through transdisciplinary programs. The aim of this project is to increase the possibilities for international cooperation, professional development and the creation of residential studies focused on the concept of care. The project manifests this mission through a coherent and complementary set of activities that includes capacity building (residency), networking and knowledge exchange, and artistic actions of creative expression, all of which are dedicated to creating platforms for conversation, research, learning and artistic creation through the circulation of artists and works and increased access and participation in cultural and artistic activities of the audience.
