The OUT OF the BOX project is an outstanding example of revitalizing traditional cultural heritage in an innovative and contemporary way. Four cultural associations dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage have joined forces to protect and promote this valuable part of Croatian culture. As part of the project, experts from the cultural sector will conduct ethnological research on the migrations of folk costumes within the project area. These experts will catalog and digitize elements of folk costumes and create an innovative publication featuring interactive QR codes. The publication will provide detailed descriptions of folk costumes, regions, customs, purposes, and other interesting facts, accompanied by professional photographs and QR codes that grant access to video and audio content. The next step of the project involves the project lead, the Kultivator Association, who intends to design 3D replicas of selected folk costumes. These replicas will be used to create virtual exhibits that can be displayed through various technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality.

The project is highly interdisciplinary and involves institutions, museums, art historians, and other experts. Their contributions encompass the development of strategic documents, publications, and digital content. The OUT OF the BOX project is of great importance for preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Međimurje and serves as an excellent example of how tradition can be transmitted to the modern era through innovative solutions.
